For the past four days, Ted and I have been loaded down with all of our belongings that we must truck from B&B to B&B. But last night we got to enjoy biking sans luggage as the restaurant we were dining at was 1.5 miles away from our B&B and there was no need for our luggage to come along for the ride. Fortunately, there were no hills on the journey so even though we did not want to get back on a bike, we had little choice if we wanted to be fed.
In my dinner shorts and sandals, I felt liberated and light as I pedaled to the Inn at St. Peter’s. It was a mostly flat and easy ride. No cars were on the road and in less than 10 minutes we reached our destination with nary a drop of sweat or exertion.
After filling ourselves with yet another excellent meal and dessert, we walked up a long gravel hill from the restaurant to the main road, letting the food settle in our stomachs a bit before riding home. It was another easy pedal and our long shadows led us home as the sun set and darkness started to emerge.
