The greenhouse is getting crowded with the emergence of wintering over hibiscus, amaryllis and geraniums (Pelargonium) from the basement. A few make their way to the compost pile, unsuccessful in a seasonal transition. But I am confident that over half will reemerge anew.
The amaryllises already had started to sprout ivory cream leaves looking to go green. One overexcited and extended bulb shoots for the sky.
A few of the geraniums sprout fledgling pale leaves though none of the hibiscus shows much beyond tiny buds on their trimmed stems looking for light and moisture. These pots will reside here through early May, when I will have to evict them to make room for over 200 vegetables and herbs that need to be transplanted into larger pots.
I can’t wait!
