Talk time

Last week was busy with two book talks for the @thehoppgroundgardenclub and @annsplaceinc on the same day. Both were nicely attended and I started the groups out with a simple aromatherapy exercise before discussing A Therapist’s Garden.

“Open the plastic bag you have and crush the sachet or the herbs inside between your fingers. As you do this close your eyes and smell. Where does this scent take you?” Both groups are quiet with the only noise of crunching herbs. We then start a conversation about the herbs chosen, the memories invoked and their seasonality.

“The last herb is cinnamon , which I often ascribe to winter for mulled drinks,” I say. “By the way, cinnamon is considered to be somewhat erotic for men, which is probably why I gorged myself on cinnamon buns before I discovered girls.”

A laugh emerges from both crowds, who are now ready to hear about my book and its stories. If you are interested, you can hear me this Thursday, April 14, around 2:40 PM EDT on Big Blend Radio for National Gardening Day at https://www.blogtalkradio.com/…/big-blend-radio-garden...
