It is Flower Friday! And here are a few of the flowers that are populating my garden (trust me there are lots more)!
Black cohosh: This highly fragrant native plant, spreads easily and has a long history of medicinal uses. The bees love it too.
Musk mallow (Malus alcea): This pretty, though invasive plant from Europe, has a place in a corner of our garden. We try to make sure it stays only there.
Coneflower (Echinacea): These summer flowers have just started to flower out and are a favorite landing pad for the local bees.
Queen Anne’s Lace: I always struggle as to how many of these wild carrots I let propagate on my property. The introduction of look-alike poison hemlock to my yard last year makes the culling even more important.
Bee balm (Monarda): This flower continues to increase its presence on the property. No matter, Juana loves to use it and other plants for a restorative tea.
Daisy: Such a happy, carefree flower. It is not fancy but reminds me of a simpler time during my childhood and that of my girls where daisy-linked headwear were created daily.
Coreopsis: This low lying plant is sometimes hard to find in our garden between other more dominant plants but always worth the effort.
Astilbe: This colorful sample starts to flower up when the mountain laurel begins to fade. I was lucky with the timing.
Clematis: It seems we always have flowers on this vine that fills a few sections of our fence. Absolutely lovely.
Now back to weeding.
