I am often amazed at the inventiveness of my clients at @annsplaceinc The latest class we finished was packed with 21 people to create seasonal wreaths out of spruce cones, acorns and other things collected from the outdoors.
The cones were easy to collect though I needed to purchase acorns for the first time ever. This year’s crop was nowhere to be found. The form for the wreath I found online.
I told my clients to look at the material I supplied to them and think about what they could supplement it with. “If you go to Ann’s Place,” I start. “There are purple beauty berries, holly, as well as Winterthur viburnum to pick. You might get lucky and still be able to harvest some herbs that have survived the light frosts we have had.”
A few clients show the group their foraged finds. Everyone has something different.
“A hot glue gun is the best way to put this together. If you rely on Elmer’s glue, make sure that you give your wreath a chance to dry before moving it,” I advise. My clients nod, about half having such a fixative.
Soon everyone is finished with their wreath and they all look different, as can be seen here from a few samples.
