It is a strange summer. And I am not sure if some of my plants in the garden know what to make of it. Both the tomato and blueberry plants have been fruiting for nearly a month. Yet the fruits just sit, unripened. Blueberry harvests have been meager and we have yet to taste a single tomato. The only thing I can think of is that it was somewhat cold and dry in the beginning of July and now it is very hot with sporadic rains but not humid. Perhaps the extremes are causing these fruits to shut down, much as the rest of us have done in this crazy month.
