It’s flower Friday again and plants are actively making up for lost time by bursting into bloom daily.
Sweet woodruff (Galium odoratum): The flowers on the sweet woodruff signify that time to harvest for May wine is past and they are ready to spread actively as a ground cover.
Azalea (Rhododendron): This is one of the many azaleas we have that has started to flower. We have different cultivars staged so they bloom throughout Spring.
Trillium (Trillium grandiflorum): I planted these as a lark a few years back in our herbaceous border against the fence. This year they have come into their own.
Darwin species tulip: We planted these tiny and delicate tulips over 20 years ago and they’d continue to bloom and thwart the squirrels.
Bleeding hearts (Dicentra): The white ones are the first to emerge. We are waiting for the pinks to come up.
Flowering quince (Chaenomeles speciosa): They are just started to flower. We are finally beginning to get good fruits from these these thorny bushes.
Anemone: These flowers continue to emerge in different spots every year. Go figure!
Highbush blueberries (Vaccinium corymbosum): All of our bushes are well flowered looking to deliver a great crop of berries. I will need to put up the tent of netting by the end of the month.
Forget-me-not (Myosotis sylvatica): And last but not least to forget are the forget me nots that like the anemone find their own unique places in the garden.
