It’s tick time! Every year I pull a few of these blood suckers off me even though I am super diligent in showering and getting rid of my garden clothing after every outing. This year looks to be a bad one in New England as snow cover and mild temperatures are likely to help the ticks winter over. Last week I pulled one off me and my friend Matt pulled off five after a hike.
Echhhh!
I have had some luck in keeping the populations down by spreading @ticktubes around the property. They are a tad expensive at $5 each, but you can make your own @diyticktubes for a lot less. Regardless of the cost, it is worth it to minimize exposure and the possibility of Lymes disease, babesiosis, ehrlichiosis and other tick-borne diseases. Have fun in the garden, but stay safe.
