Removing a layer

After shoveling out the driveway and walks, the cold frames and greenhouse are next. Today’s snow removal is easy as it is the first of the season and there are plenty of places to put the snow. With a plastic edged grain shovel, I carefully remove layers of snow from the first cold frame, tossing the snow aside. Clearing everything away, I see frozen drops of water clinging to the inside of the plastic panes. The greenhouse is easier to clear as I go inside and bang on the roof making the snow slide to the sides. It has partially melted: inside it is 44 F while outside it is 31F. The last cold frame is also easy to clear; everything is intact. I will pull some greens in the next few days once the temperatures rise above freezing.
