Ordering seeds

Just when the gardens have been put to bed, it is time to order seeds for the coming year. I get most of mine from Fedco Seeds, which has a great selection of heirlooms as well as good prices. Before I order, I go through the seeds I still have from the prior year to see what worked well in the gardens and what needs to be swapped out for something else. I don’t keep seeds for any longer than 2 years so older ones are discarded. I know that many seeds are viable for much longer but given my growing seasons, I don’t want to take a chance on seeds not germinating. I then go over every page of the catalog figuring out what I need to purchase for both my use and that of my clients. I always purchase more seeds than I can plant and I always plant more seeds than I have places for. I can hardly wait to start my indoor trays of greens this Winter.
