Kids will be kids

We take a side trip from Cedarville to visit the Cedar Cliff Falls, a local attraction. The park where the falls is located has recently been updated and it is lovely with new walks, picnic tables and viewing platforms. But the local boys don’t really care. It is hot and they want to jump into the water. And nothing is going to stop them.

The falls is a little less than 20 feet high. There is a strong flow of water that is perhaps ankle high at its edge. Each boy looks over into the abyss while that water cascades down in three different place. One lad is not jumping, but watches from a mossy seat on the edge of an adjoining rock squatting like an observant gnome. Mullen are in bloom as are other wildflowers. The rocks are covered with slippery mosses as the spray of water provides a perfect environment for them to flourish. But the boys are not appreciating this. They are getting ready to get wet.

Their efforts come at different times and styles with no warnings. One just looks and jumps in an uncontrolled fashion. Another  goes down straight, arms to his side. Another in a semi-cannonball. But they all bob up and start scampering up the rocks on the side of the falls so they can hurl themselves into oblivion for a few seconds before hitting the cool and refreshing waters of summer yet again.
